All of us use energy every day in our lives. If you think about it, we use energy when we turn on our lights or air conditioning or heat, cook our food, watch TV, drive our cars, work on our computers or during a myriad of other daily activities we perform. Although we will continue to exploit energy for our needs, we can choose to use those types of energy that do not involve burning of fossil fuels or splitting of atoms.
Burning of fossil fuels produces carbon dioxide emissions which lead to polluting the Earth. Similarly, splitting of atoms, which happens during the use of nuclear energy, involves the creation of nuclear waste byproducts which lead to damaging our planet. Therefore, and taking into account the alarming global warming effect, population growth, and depletion of fossil fuels, we can make a conscious effort to use only alternative energy sources that do not have lasting harmful consequences for the environment.
Alternative sources of energy do not cause devastating damage to the Earth. Alternative sources of energy are renewable and include solar energy, wind energy, geothermal energy, and hydroelectric energy. Geothermal energy is literally the energy we can produce from heat contained inside the earth, whereas hydroelectric energy is energy we can get from moving water. Biomass energy and tide energy can also be included in the renewable list. Only by using alternative sources of energy can we ensure that our human existence continues for centuries to come.
The knowledge and expertise in alternative energy sources is growing in leaps and bounds, both domestically and abroad. By now, probably all of you have seen wind mills producing wind energy, for example. Nonetheless, humanity could use alternative energy sources on a much larger scale so that we could lessen our dependence on fossil fuels and ultimately eliminate it completely.

For many years there have been debates on whether or not new alternative energy sources should be used to help offset current resources. Unfortunately, these current resources are being depleted at a much faster rate than previously anticipated. Using alternative energy like solar power, wind power and green energy is the way of the present and the future if the earth is to survive and continue to produce for new generations to enjoy.
Wind energy, green energy and solar power as alternative sources of energy will all help to preserve our current way of life into the future. Even the oil companies have been trying to find different ways of doing business that would limit hurting the environment. The benefits of having a cleaner future would be so that our children and grandchildren can enjoy what we have enjoyed. Using alternative energy resources can make this happen.
An alternative energy source that can be sustained long-term is ideal. Planting more trees, vegetable gardens, flowering bushes, and shrubs to protect the environment are always good ideas and can be done on a daily basis in a small way to make a big impact.
Alternative energy resources provide a way for everyone to become involved from school-aged children to college students, to their professors, the clergy, physicians, and other learned professionals. This way all can help teach each other about the benefits of helping to maintain a clean, vibrant, necessary future environment.
Keeping it safe, viable and hopefully just as clean as we found it will help sustain life. Animals and people live together here and keeping the environment as clean and clutter-free as possible can help keep this a reality.
The debates continue but it is clear to the general public, scientists and scholars alike, that using alternative energy sources to help preserve the water supply, promote clean air, and protect the world’s inhabitants would be in the best interests of everybody.
